Tragic times… tremendous opportunities

Arab World Media PioneersIn the face of beheadings, fleeing refugees and persecution of believers, the Arab World Media team encouraged people to fix their eyes on Jesus, whose perfect love casts out fear.

It starts with a question

Arab World Media PioneersWhat do you remember of your journey to faith in Christ? When did it start? How long did it take? What obstacles were there along the way? Perhaps, like me, you made your decision at a very young age, and a simple faith slowly became a deeper understanding. Or maybe it all happened suddenly and your life was transformed very quickly. Regardless of the when and the how, you will remember things that made a difference – the words of a pastor, the actions of a friend, Bible verses that seemed to be written just for you!

Jesus the refugee

Arab World Media PioneersIn Matthew 2:13-15, an angel appears to Joseph in a dream, telling him to get up, take Jesus and his mother, and go to Egypt. King Herod was searching for Jesus and wanted to kill him, so they had to leave everything and flee.

Our God is unstoppable

Arab World Media PioneersIt is always amazing to see how God relentlessly pursues Muslims. Here is yet another example from a member of our response team, who has been engaging with a Muslim woman from Egypt. Celebrate with us the birth of a new life!

Open heaven

Arab World Media PioneersImagine fasting from dawn to sunset for a month in the hottest time of the year. For twelve hours or more each day – from the moment you can distinguish a black thread from a white thread until the canons sound to announce the end of the fast in the evening – you are not allowed to have any food or drink. Why would anyone want to do that? Simply to follow religious rules? Or to give in to pressure from family and society? Or for something more?

Laila - looking for a miracle

Arab World Media PioneersLaila and her husband Khaled live in the Gulf region. Their 12-year-old daughter has a life-threatening illness that medical treatment cannot cure. Where can they turn for the miracle they need? In their hotel room, awaiting another hospital appointment, Laila catches the Jesus film on television, and sees Christ minister life to a girl just like her own daughter. Could this be the answer she's looking for? She starts an internet search for 'Christ the miracle maker'.

Precious possession

Arab World Media PioneersIn matters of faith, we hold fast to what we know to be true. But occasionally, we find the need to adjust slightly our beliefs as we mature in our faith and let God develop our theology through Bible reading and sound teaching. But for Rahman*, a Middle Eastern man, the need for adjustment was more of a major shift.

Arabian Dawn – My heart aches

Arab World Media PioneersIf anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters – yes, even their own life – such a person cannot be my disciple. (Luke 14:26)

Love your enemy

Arab World Media PioneersFlogged. Struck. Ridiculed. Slapped. Mocked. Spat upon. Beaten. Insulted. Stripped. These are some of the words the Bible uses to describe what happened to Jesus in the hours before his crucifixion. The Son of God was utterly humiliated. He was tortured, then murdered, by the people he came to save.

Encouraging the heart of Rafid

Arab World Media PioneersMy name is Rafid. I come from a traditional tribe of Bedouin descent. We are a very close-knit and extremely conservative family. We live in a rural community where everyone knows everyone else’s business, in a very oil-rich country. My family, my tribe, and my country will not tolerate anyone who dares to follow the Jesus of the Bible.

No healing without Forgiveness

Arab World Media PioneersWhat can we do in the midst of adversity? You can kneel; you can weep, and weep, and weep. Complain if you must, groan if you must, and get angry if you must. This you can do. There is one thing you must not do. Dear brothers and sisters, stay far away from bitterness and from blaming others. No matter what it is, don’t blame others. Do that and you are dangerously close to forfeiting all future spiritual growth. (Gene Edwards)

Walking away from revenge

Arab World Media PioneersWhile living in the Islamic world, I had an English student who required some extra tutoring. This young man would come to my office before class to get assistance on the finer details of this difficult language.

Isa, Jesus and Yeshua – what’s in a name?

Arab World Media PioneersIn the course of time, the spelling and pronunciation of names can change, especially when they move from one language to another. Languages do not have the same letters and sounds. We can see how this has happened with many names that are common today. The same thing has happened with the name of Isa.

The original form of Isa’s name is ‘Yeshua’ in Hebrew. It means ‘God saves’.

Looking for answers

Arab World Media PioneersWhere does a Muslim go for answers? Raised in an environment that actively discourages questioning of any kind, more and more are turning to the internet. As the Middle Eastern world goes through ongoing upheaval, our online Arabic website is inundated with inquiries. Live chat sessions and our chat rooms are also full of activity. Muslims are increasingly disillusioned with Islam.

Fear or Love ?

Arab World Media PioneersBeheadings… fleeing refugees… persecution… As we watch today’s headlines from the Arab world, we feel helpless. We know that God calls us to love, but how is it possible in the face of such turmoil, hatred and suffering? Satan’s weapon is fear, and he uses it to ensnare followers of Islam and counteract the advancement of the gospel.

The Hajj - a search for forgiveness

Video thumbnailHajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage that is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims, begins this week. During the Hajj, which starts this year on October 2 and runs for three or four days, an estimated three million Muslims will be making the journey to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to perform sacred acts and follow the steps of their prophet Mohammed in a quest to be cleansed of their sins. This is a strategic time for Christians to pray for Muslims.

Dreams And Visions

Arab World Media PioneersOver the years we have encountered many stories of people in the Muslim world who have come to faith through a vision or dream about Jesus. From September 15th until October 15th, our Maarifa internet ministry is reaching out specifically to those whom God is drawing to himself through dreams and visions.

The Saudi Magazine on Air

Arab World Media PioneersSeveral media organizations, including Arab World Media, have partnered in a new initiative to reach the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the message of God’s love.

The Arab World

Arab World Media PioneersThe Arab world spans two continents and stretches for five thousand miles from East to West. Nineteen* countries make up this region of more than 350 million people, more than half of whom are under the age of twenty-five.
